6 Days Marangu Route

6-day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route adventure, starting in Moshi where you’ll stay at a beautiful hotel on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Prepare for the climb and ensure you have the necessary medical coverage and travel insurance. Begin your trek from Marangu Gate, passing through tropical rainforests to reach Mandara Hut. As you ascend, you’ll enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Take an extra day at Horombo Hut for acclimatization and enjoy a gradual climb to Kibo Hut, where you’ll prepare for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Descend to Horombo Hut and then to Marangu Gate, where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Conclude your journey with a transfer to Moshi, marking the end of your unforgettable Kilimanjaro budget safari experience.

Day 1: Arrive in Moshi Bed and breakfast.

You will stay at the Hotel, a beautiful Hotel located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and is a perfect place to prepare you for your Kilimanjaro Marangu Route 6 days adventure. We will gather at 5:30 pm for a pre-climb briefing and an equipment check. We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.

Day 2: Mandara Hut (Full board)

After having your breakfast, we’ll take you to Marangu Gate for the necessary formalities at the gate; we start the climbs through the fascinating tropical rainforest. We’ll reach the first hut at Mandara for dinner and overnight, An alternative is to rest and relax in the beautiful forest around the camp simply

Day 3 : Horombo Hut (Full board)

Today we walk from Mandara hut towards the Horombo hut; if the weather permits, you will see a good view of Kibo and Mawenzi peak. We recommend drinking enough water and walking slowly! Dinner will be provided at the Horombo hut.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3700 m): 5-7 hours walking.

Day 4: Horombo Hut (Full board) -Acclimatization Day

Today we walk towards the Mawenzi hut, passing the Zebra Rocks; this extra day and night at Horombo are for additional acclimatization. We recommend drinking enough water and walking slowly! All meals for the day are provided at the Horombo hut to further improve our acclimatization.

Day 5: Kibo Hut (Full board)

Today we climb very gradually towards the lunar desert of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. You will take these 6-7 hours walking at a slow pace until we reach Kibo Hut (4,700m), where we will spend the night in a comfortable hut. There is no running water at Kibo Hut. The remainder of the day is spent relaxing in preparation for the final ascent before a very early night.

Day 6: Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut (Full board)

Wake up before midnight in the cover of darkness. We begin a steep climb over loose volcanic scree, with some well-graded zig-zags, and a slow but steady pace will take us to the rim of the main crater, Gillman’s (5,685 m). We will rest there for a few minutes to enjoy the sunrise over Mawenzi. Those who are still feeling good can continue slowly to make the three-hour round trip from here along the crater rim to Uhuru peak (5,895 m), which is the highest point in Africa. After a few minutes to appreciate your accomplishment, we descend to Kibo Hut, which is amazingly fast. We stop at Kibo Hut for some refreshment and continue to descend to reach Horombo Hut.

Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut (3,720 m.): 13-15 hours walking.

Day 7: Horombo Hut (Half Board)

Today we will descend past Mandara hut to Marangu National Park, and successful climbers will receive their summit certificates. From here, you will be transferred to Moshi for dinner and overnight at Hotel.

Day 8: Departure day

After saying goodbye to our team in operation, you need a Private departure transfer from Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your flight. You will be picked up at the Hotel around 7:45 am at the airport.
