3 Days Mahale Mountains Trek
DAY 1: KIGOMA – MAHALE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast at your hotel transfer by vehicle Lukoma village then take a 45 minutes boat to Mahale National Park – afternoon relax.
The park like its northerly neighbor Gombe is home to some of Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees, a population of roughly 900, they are habituated to human visitors by a Japanese research project founded in the 1960s.Tracking the chimps of Mahale is a magical experience.
Mahale is located in the Western Tanzania to the South of Kigoma town, it is bordering Lake Tanganyika-the World’s longest, second deepest and least polluted freshwater lake-harboring an estimated 1000 fish species.
Accommodation: Mahale Bandas. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
DAY 2: MAHALE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
You will spend full days chimpanzee tracking in Mahale. Chimpanzees normally move in search of food and nest wherever there’s an abundant food source such as their favorite fruit. Snorkeling is an option if you’d like to cool off in the water and see what lies below the surface. Accommodation: Mahale Bandas. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 3: MAHALE – KIGOMA TOWN
Morning after breakfast transfer by boat to lukoma village then take car to Kigoma town (B,L)
